  Fear mongering is the only way I can describe this experience. My mother in law is staying with us from out of town to help me with the duration of my pregnancy. She had developed a rash that was not getting better so we went to this facility to seek treatment. They diagnosed my mother in law with Shingles. The Nurse Practitioner told us she needed to be quarantined away from me, wear a mask every time she was in the same room as me, and that it would be super easy to contract Shingles from her just by breathing the same air as her. This didn't sound right to me and I did some research online and everything I read said it is not airborne. I called my OB this morning to confirm the actions I would need to take and she confirmed that all of the information I was given from the NP was wrong. It's not airborne, and you can only contract it if you have a compromised immune system and then touch the blisters, or if you have either not had chicken pox and have not been vaccinated. I really do not appreciate the added stress of this horrible misinformation given by someone who is supposed to be a professional in the medical field! This misinformation, had we gone along with it, would have needlessly drastically altered the functionality of our family. We will not be coming back to this facility again.
